Setting up, how automatic clock-in works, and what to do when something doesn't look right.
Schedules are optional. If you add them (People, then a person, then Weekly schedule; or the Schedule page), ClockLap flags late arrivals and no-shows and can remind people who forget to clock in.
At the end of each pay period, open Timesheets, review anything marked Needs review, then Approve. Export a summary, every shift, ADP or QuickBooks file, or connect payroll through the API. You can also email a report to your accountant on a schedule from Reports.
When you arrive inside your site's geofence and stay for a minute or two, the app clocks you in and sends a notification you can undo. When you leave for a few minutes, it clocks you out. A short step outside (to your car, say) doesn't end your shift. Your location is only checked near your sites and during shifts, never on days off.
iPhone: Settings, then the app, then Location, then Always, and turn on Precise Location.
Android: Settings, then Apps, then the app, then Permissions, then Location, then Allow all the time. Also set Battery to Unrestricted so your phone doesn't stop the app in the background.
Check that location is set to Always, that you're assigned to the site (it's listed on the Today screen under Your sites), and that you waited a minute inside. You can always tap Clock in. If a shift is wrong, open Hours, pick the day, and Request a fix.
On the Today screen tap Ask for a site, pick an existing site or pin a new place, and say how long you'll be there. Once a manager approves, the app clocks you in there automatically. Temporary access ends by itself.
Correction requests, time off and site requests arrive in the Inbox in the console and under Team in the app. Approving a site request for a new place creates the site and its geofence; you can adjust the name, size and end date first.
The Live page in the console, and Team, then Now in the app, show who is clocked in, on a break, or late.
Create a key under Settings, then Integrations. Test keys work against a separate copy of your workspace with sample data, so you can build safely. Every change sends a signed webhook event. The full reference is at /docs on your region's API address (for example ca-api.clocklap.com/docs).
Connect Claude or another MCP client under Settings, then AI assistants. It's read-only unless you allow changes, and every change asks for confirmation first.
